Who am I?

My name is Matthew Surgeon, I am from Townsville Australia but played my high level soccer on the Gold Coast, playing for ‘The Southport School’ First XI from 2022-2024. I want to take my talents academically and athletically to a US College Soccer program to experience a different lifestyle to here in Australia but to also play at an elite level whilst completing my degree. I am a driven and focused person willing and wanting to excel academically and in the world of soccer.

What do you want to achieve on the field and in the classroom as a student-athlete?

I want to be able to play at a high level to push myself and grow as a player and keep pushing new boundaries. In the classroom I want to be able to complete my degree without needing to interrupt my sporting life.

Why do you want to play college soccer?

I want to play college soccer to see what the skill level is like in another country. Also to play at an elite level to further improve myself as a player all year round. The college sporting world also seems to offer a lot of pathways into professional careers in the sport which is something that interests me highly.
