Interview
Who am I?
My name is Angelica Gallo, and I am originally from Melbourne but moved up to Queensland in 2020. I started my football journey in Melbourne, and progressed into the National Premier League system, as well as being selected for the Skill Acquisition Program at Football Victoria. Since moving to Queensland, I have progressed through the development ages and pushed myself into the senior National Premier League – Women (NPLW), training all sessions, playing and being in the match day squad for most of the season. I am a hard-working footballer, and pride myself on being at the front of all physical sessions, and a team player, that will always put the team ahead of myself. When I have a goal, I will stop at nothing to achieve it, both in the classroom, and on the football pitch.
I love football, and it is a huge part of my life. It has always been a dream of mine to take my football and study abroad to college in the USA, as I believe I need to be out of my comfort zone to enable the next step of growth in me as a footballer, and as a person. I want to achieve some academic goals, football goals, and experience new cultures. Within the college environment, I believe the professionalism and focus on sport and academic results with a cohort that have the same values, likeminded, focus and drive will help me achieve my goals.
I like to think that I have a growth mindset, and love challenges and learning. I am not too sure on what I want to major in at this stage but am so excited to start the football and classroom journey in the USA. I want to grow as a person and further my education to set myself up for the future. On the football pitch, I want to get better 1% everyday, and train at the highest intensity possible and help my school achieve the highest possible results both on and off the pitch. I want to increase my strength and speed, and enhance my football skills and I believe within a college environment, with the facilities and expertise available, this will be the perfect opportunity for me as a player and person.
As I mentioned, I have so many friends that are in the USA playing and studying, and this has been a goal of mine for several years to make this move, as I have the need to be around like-minded, goal-driven people to be an environment where I can and have to constantly push myself.
